4. Be a Volunteer in Schools
Fellows serving in schools are expected to design and implement projects in the schools and communities in which they serve in. We would like you to come and actively contribute to transforming the learning outcomes of students through these projects. Our Fellows will appreciate your support in transforming their school or community projects.
Your involvement in these projects by Fellows may come in various forms. Some of the projects that Fellows would organise that you could be a part of are, but not limited to, introducing digital skills through digital storytelling medium, learning visits to leading knowledge-based organisations or even painting the school’s building.
A Teach First participant had the opportunity to reward her best students with the experience of attending summer school in the boardroom of a leading investment bank for a day. Additionally, many of the bank’s employees paid a visit to interim classroom to help students solve complex mathematic equations.
As we will only begin placement of Fellows in 2012, we are still in the process of developing a framework for volunteers to take on active roles in school projects. Do check back in the coming months for updates.
